Improvements to Payroll by Wave
Some exciting changes are happening in Payroll by Wave! We are working hard to make our product streamlined, easier to use and faster so you can get on with what you care about: running your business. We’ve changed some things around in the process, so please take a look and see what’s new!
1. Fewer steps for Payroll setup
Previously, in order to run a payroll you used to click the Run Payroll tab at the top. The old flow required three steps: Set up, Preview and Summary.
The old Run Payroll screen looked like this
We have made this process simpler. Now, when you’d like to run a payroll or view your pay stubs you can simply click the Payroll tab (shown below). By combining the Pay Stubs and Payroll pages, we’ve streamlined the experience to make it easier for you to find the information you need.
Instead of going through three steps, we’ll show you your Payroll Preview as soon as you enter the Payroll tab. The new screen looks like this:
If you need to edit your pay period or check date, you can do so at any time by clicking the grey Change Dates button.
You’ll also notice that we have changed the Approve button to say Run Payroll to make the action clearer.

2. Improved automation
We’ve taken time to find smarter ways to automate payroll data entry for you. For example, the new Payroll flow will automatically calculate and fill in the most likely check date for your business.
3. Optimized export menu
One last small change has to do with exporting your paystubs. We’ve changed our export button look to a more space-conservative drop down menu.
